One Day Programme

A Day in Heggodu

An introduction to the campus, the work, and the people. Suited to schools, college groups, and urban professionals looking for a grounded half-step away from the city.

  • Campus orientation and introduction to Charaka's work
  • One hands-on craft workshop: block printing or natural dyeing
  • Seasonal lunch prepared from local ingredients
  • A walk through the campus and surrounding landscape

Three Day Programme

Roots and threads

Three days to begin understanding what it means to make something with care for the land, for the community, and for the person who will eventually wear it or use it.

  • Accommodation on campus (dormitory or room)
  • All meals: seasonal, local, vegetarian
  • Two craft workshops: weaving introduction and natural dye process
  • Performance or conversation with artists
  • A nature walk with a local guide: birdwatching, forest ecology
  • Time unscheduled — for the campus, for quiet

Living the practice

Five days is long enough to understand something about pace. Long enough to feel part of a place, not just a visitor to it.

  • Full accommodation on campus
  • All meals through the programme
  • Daily craft engagement: weaving, dyeing, block printing
  • Theatre and interaction with resident artists
  • Day excursion: Jog Falls or Sharavathi Valley
  • Conversation with Charaka members about livelihoods and the handloom ecosystem
